The trail is popular with folks acclimatizing for a full ascent and groups who just want to experience the massiveness of Aconcagua. From the Aconcagua Trail - Confluencia Section go right into the valley. The trail starts out relatively steep for the first two miles. At this point you meet up with the glacier. The rest of the trail skims the edge of the glacier as it slowly rises. You are also curving around the surrounding mountains so that as you turn the corner you are finally face to face with the full mountain.
