A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles parking in state parks, forests and recreation areas. Rates (as of 2022) range from $3 to $15 per day; vehicles with out-of-state plates are $11 per day.

This trail bridges the gap between Horizon Rock and the Old Man of the Dalles rock formation, closer to the river. It also connects the Pothole Trail to the Skyline Nature Trail. It is also part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, being the first of the park system trails to connect with the larger trail coming from the east. At Horizon Rock, on the eastern portion of the trail, there are panoramic views of the St. Croix River below.
