Description

Mica Road rolls along on a ridge hillside, close to the ridge top. This is primarily a forest trail, however the views are good as the hillside drops off on the left. Mica Road can be hiked in either direction. This description starts at Linder Ridge Road and ends at Upper Outer Limits.

From Linder Ridge Road, Mica Road begins in the beautiful conifer forest. After about a quarter mile, the trail breaks out of the forest into an open area with great views to the left/north. Returning to the forest after about another quarter mile, the trail stays in the forest for the rest on its length.

Mica Road passes several trails along its route. Some can lead back to Selkirk Lodge and others take one further out in this trail system. Trails branching off from Mica Road are:

After a total of 2.5 miles, Mica Road ends at a trail junction with Upper Outer Limits, which goes even deeper into the backcountry, and Tamarama that loops back towards the start of Mica Road.

During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.

Note: this trail is a section of the M17 forest road on Inland Empire Paper Company land, in case you are curious about strange signs you may come across.

Flora & Fauna

Mica Road goes left, Paper Trail goes right, in the beautiful, wintery, conifer forest of Mt. Spokane (Washington) State Park, a great place to cross-country ski.
