A Washington state Sno-Park Permit is required for parking. Description

Tamarama can be hiked/skied in either direction. This description is west to east. Fun trail!

Starting at the 0.8 mile mark along Upper Tripp's Loop, Tamarama rolls along with small rises and falls on a north facing ridge side. The trail goes through forest and open areas with nice views to the north.

At about the 1.7 mile mark, Tamarama begins a half mile climb to its high point. This is also its "high point" for views. Here at the trail's summit, is an expansive, wide open area. Breathtaking views all around. Take some time to admire the impressive mountain scenery.

The trail then descends for a little less than a half mile, to end after a total of 2.6 miles. This end of Tamarama is at a junction with multiple trails. Mica Road takes one back towards Selkirk Lodge. Upper Outer Limits takes one further into the backcountry. Enjoy!

During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.

Note: this trail is a section of the M8 forest road on Inland Empire Paper Company land, in case you are curious about strange signs you may come across.

Flora & Fauna

Conifer forest and open areas with grass and low vegetation. Deer and moose are around.
