Overview

A challenging and rewarding run from Boulder to Winter Park.

Need to Know

This is a *VERY LONG* run. Consider exploring it in segments.

Description

The vision of the Indian Peaks Traverse (IPT) came from a committed group of outdoor enthusiasts in the Boulder area. Many of us had enjoyed iconic trails like the Colorado Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Kokopelli Trail, and the John Muir Trail. And while Boulder has a wonderful collection of trail systems, there has long been a passion, especially among trail runners and mountain bikers, to connect them and make longer and longer adventures. Our love of long distance adventures and a tradition of exploring the forests in Boulder County led us to the vision of an official trail connecting Winter Park to Boulder –the Indian Peaks Traverse.

While the current route for this trail uses a lot of road segments, there are several areas where active construction, corridor flagging, or planning is underway to substantially improve this route and increase the amount of singletrack.

Please check out the Indian Peaks Traverse Website for detailed segment-by-segment descriptions in the works.
