Description

Cooper Gap Road starts just outside Camp Merrill where US Army Rangers undergo the "Mountain Week" training.

It's a fairly gentle, if sustained, well-shaded climb on smooth forest road up to the intersection with Cooper Gap Road FS42-2, which lets you access some of the highest peaks in the Georgia Blue Ridge.

Or you can run all the way down from the top, but watch out for vehicles in the turns.

These roads are great for running if the Bull Mountain trails are too wet or if it's freeze-thaw season. Wear orange if it's hunting season.
