Overview
A sustained, steep out-and-back of Georgia's highest peak, Brasstown Bald.
Need to Know
Parking at Jack's Gap is free but parking at the base of Brasstown Bald charges a fee.
Description
Join the
Jacks Knob Trail #45 at the Jack's Gap parking area and use
Jacks Knob Trail #45 to reach the
Brasstown Bald Trail to the summit. Steep the whole way up. Expect mostly switchbacks the first mile and a half and then it straightens out.
Once you get to the parking lot for Brasstown Bald, there's a lot of people but the rest of the trail is lightly trafficked. Mostly a dirt path but quite a few roots and a few rocks.
Flora & Fauna
Not a lot of mosquitos or bugs surprisingly. But there's quite a few spiderwebs you'll run into, with this being a lightly trafficked route. I saw one toad and quite a few millipedes along the trail. Lots of trees and shade most of the way.
