Description

Visitors to Mammoth Cave National Park flock to the area for a variety of reasons. With scenic running trails and historic monuments situated above ground, there’s plenty to see within the park. However, the main attraction remains the cave itself. With over 400 miles of the Mammoth Cave system mapped, it easily dwarfs other caves to take the title of largest cave system in the world. To truly take advantage of the features that the park highlights, taking a guided tour is strongly recommended.

The park offers a variety of different tours that vary in length and difficulty, but all tours stop by one or more of the parks highlights, including Frozen Niagara, Cleveland and Grand Avenues, and the Snowball Room. Tours range in difficulty and expected time, allowing you to pick a journey most suited to your group. Whether you’re embarking on a quick tour of Frozen Niagara or spending your whole day spelunking on the Wild Cave Tour, you’re sure to enjoy the marvels that are hidden below the park’s surface.

For more information on specific cave tours, head to the Mammoth Cave National Park Cave Tours page.

Especially during busy summer months, tours will often fill to capacity. It is therefore recommended that you make a reservation for your party. For more details, click here.

Long Walk: All tours meet and depart from the main visitor center. Buses will be provided for tours of caves that aren't in the immediate vicinity. Your journey can range anywhere from 1 1/4 hours to 6 hours, depending on which option you choose.
