This trail starts off Poor Farm Road and follows a short section to Balch Hill Road. It crosses over Balch Hill Road and arcs around the northern part of the town forest. Make sure to follow the new red blazes and not the old metal yellow blazes.

According to the NH Fish and Game website, the old trail followed a different route; you may still see some of the old yellow blazes on the hill.

The trail descends and crosses over Balch Hill Road and continues to a trail split, signed as Ridge Loop. Here, the trail just loops around back to this junction. You can either take Poor Farm Trail all the way back or take Balch Hill Road Ext.
