The Schoodic Loop Road (and Blueberry Hill parking area) requires an Acadia National Park Entrance Pass that can be purchased online (must be printed ahead of time!) or at Schoodic Woods or at any other park entrance station.

Description

This trail begins at the Blueberry Hill parking area off the Schoodic Loop Road inside Acadia National Park. It quickly climbs through the pine forest to the Anvil. The Anvil is a small peak at, on clear days, offers great views of the coastline. After a slight descent, it then begins to climb once again to the peak of Schoodic Head. At 440 feet, Schoodic Head is the highest peak on the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park. Here is a nice place to stop and rest or to continue on for another two-tenths of a mile to another scenic overlook.

The terrain of this trail is accented with many exposed rocks and roots that, while at times mildly inconvenient, do not impede hiking and actually add very much to the feeling of being in the Maine wilderness.

From the peak of Schoodic Head, you can either take the Anvil Trail back to Blueberry Hill or you can utilize the Ranger Station Trail or the East Trail as a means of exiting the mountain. All of these options make for a wonderful end of this hike.
