One of the few hiking/running-only trails in Deer Valley

Description

The Deer Valley and Park City areas can feel overrun with mountain bikers, but the Silver Lake Trail is designated a foot-traffic only trail, so you're guaranteed more tranquility. One popular way to do this trail involves taking the Sterling Express chairlift up, and running down. Alternatively, if you run up, you can ride the lift down for free.

From the top of the Sterling Express lift, start heading west on the Homeward Bound ski run to contour around the backside of Bald Mountain. Enjoy the views on this east side of Bald Mountain you can see the Jordanelle Reservoir and, in the distance, the Uinta Mountains. Soon you'll branch off to the east on a singletrack path across open the fields of Mayflower Bowl towards the top of the Mayflower chairlift. The Silver Lake trail begins in earnest here, first cutting across several ski runs, heading northwesterly on wide packed dirt trail surface. Pop in and out of strips of aspen and fir between the runs and lift lines. The trail steepens a bit and widens into a doubletrack access road closer to the Silver Lake Village base area.
