Need to Know

Rupert is signed as a black diamond trail but it's substantially more moderate than other black diamond rated trails in the network. Ride this and enjoy, but know it doesn't serve as a very good difficulty meter based on how it's signed on the trail.

Description

Rupert is a delightful trail that blends tech and flow and some great features for a fun rip. As is standard for many trails in the Alice Lakes network, the start of the trail begins with a short climb that leads to a proper drop-in where the fun begins. Here you'll find a simple cutout of a Newfoundland in honor of the trail builders loyal pet from years past.

Roots, dirt, and some small sections of rocks get things going as the trail works onto a rocky ridge with some fun rolls. Enjoy the flowy berms and a few optional lines along the side of the trail. Ahead a unique wooden bridge with rolling frills on both sides carries riders across a low spot. Drop your gears on the other side and pedal away at a short climb before the next roll. Work across a rocky ridge before turning right for a long straightaway that rolls smooth.

A couple more slabs follow and if anything looks too intense look for the chicken line to bypass. One in particular is pretty punchy, but it's still very rollable if you commit. Keep going and at the next bridge section, get ready for a short but punchy climb. As the trail gets rolling again you'll come to another signature feature in the shape of rocky and wooden roller coaster that hooks back to form a sort of bowl. You'll need to carry some momentum and stay high on the turn, but it can still be tricky to make it all the way around. From there to the end is another fun flowly section that quickly works back to Mashiter.
