Description

This is the longest trail in the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center trail network (not to be confused with the Spring Creek Greenway Trail, which is on the other side of Spring Creek). Because this trail gets so close to the creek, you should check the water level of the creek before attempting it. If it's rained recently, it's likely impassible. The greenway is, after all, a flood mitigation system. Much of this trail does not appear on the map posted at the Nature Center, but can be found on the website.

From the parking area, the trail starts off sharing the Wetland Loop before heading south toward the banks of Spring Creek. The trail follows the creek for nearly a mile, passing the Peckinpaugh Path, a utility right-of-way, and a number of closed/unmaintained trails. At 1.25 miles the trail turns inland and then bends back north, crossing the utility right-of-way and ultimately ending at the Bluegill Trail. The Bluegill Trail can be used to get back to the Nature Center to complete the loop.

The area is prone to flooding - this was two days after the last rain - so plan accordingly.
