Overview

This 100 km race is named after the Knight Erazem who lived in a castle partly built from stone. It's a classic run and with a total of 4,630 meters (15,190 feet) of elevation gain, it's still runnable and not that demanding. Expect views of Slivnica, Vremščica, and Nanos. This course offers the experience of a lifetime.

Runner Notes

Some self autonomy is required, but with seven refreshment points and one drop-off station, where you can change your clothes, shoes, etc... this trail offers a unique experience and some fun along the way.

Description

The start of the trail is at a tourist camp called Pivka jama. First, we cruise trough the town of Postojna and then start a climb on the first peak, Veliki Javornik (1,268 m, 4,160 ft.) where we can see Cerknica lake. Our path continues along the ridge where there is a lovely gravel road with a few ups and downs.

Shorty after that, we come to the hill Holy Trinity (1,106 m, 3,628 ft.) from where we take a long descent to the town of Pivka. Head through a magical forest to a not-so-steep ascent, where the next hill, Vremščica (1027 m, 3369 ft.), is waiting to be conquered.

On Vremščica, we can see our next goal and we can see back from where we came from. The next goal is to climb on the hill, Nanos (1,240 m, 4,068 ft.), where our path turns toward the finish. A final descent from Nanos is a nice reward and the final ascent isn't a problem. When we come to Saint Lovrenc (1,019 m, 3,343 ft.), one final descent and a short, flat section through a forest are all that's left before the finish.

History & Background

The track is named after Knight Erazem, who lived in a castle built of stone. The castle was unbreakable, but a traitor in the castle betrayed Erazem and the enemy killed him.
