Description

This is also known as the Valley Trail. It is accessed off of a gravel parking lot at the rear of Broughton Commercial Properties Complex #1 at 639 State Route 821, Marietta, Ohio 45750. The trail starts behind the complex and follows the creek until climbing sharply out of the valley to meet the Western Ridge Trail at a saddle on the ridge. The trail crosses a stream numerous times and is best during dry times. Many of the trails in the Broughton's Wildlife Area are steep, and the end of the Valley Trail is no exception. The trail follows a stream and can be slick in wet conditions. It is an enjoyable descent from the Red Trail. More information about this 500+ acre wildlife area is available at thebroughtonfoundation.org or broughtonnatureandwildlifeeducationarea.org.

Our thanks to Ryan Smith of Marietta Adventure Company for mapping this trail.

The lower two-thirds of the Blue Trail runs along, around and through a creek. Use caution. Footing can be slippery in wet conditions.
