Description
The trailhead for Segment 16 starts from an underpass of Highway 13. It's here that FLT Segment 16 begins and continues to
Seneca Lake.
Once in Robert Treman State Park, you'll start to gain elevation for a vast majority of the rest of the run. You'll eventually come to a fork in the trail where a shelter is located. If you continue on the trail, you'll run through several briar bushes. However, you can avoid this by taking the service road up to outhouses located on your left.
From here, you'll want to take a left and run past the pavilion, and you should see the white markers again where the trail is located. It's from here on out that the trail has a few rolling hills. FLT - Segment 16 eventually connects with the end of the
Rim Trail which will lead you to the parking lot.
Once the trail leaves Robert Treman State Park, the climbing will continue steadily for another 7 miles as the trail heads west and then turns south. The high point of the trail is right about where you enter the Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area. From here, you'll enjoy a short down followed by another brief uphill. The final 5 miles of the route is a rolling downhill with a couple steep sections before Segment 16 comes to an end at Gulf Road.
