Runner Notes

Depending on your direction of travel, this one can either be mostly up or mostly down or part of a solid round-trip loop.

Description

This trail connects to Powerline Pass at the south end and Prospect Heights trailhead at the north end. The trail descends south to north or climbs north to south.

From Prospect Heights, go up Wolverine Bowl trail then turn right on Middle Fork when climbing out of the creek valley; from Glen Alps, head "up" Powerline Pass to the south, then take the first available left turn off the trail.

Middle Fork is a nice, narrow singletrack with good views of Anchorage along much of the trail. The trail is used by mountain bike riders and has some wooden features that are used for biking.

Be on the lookout for riders coming down the hill, who should give right of way.

Trail maintenance on the Middle Fork Loop Trail is aided through a grant given in 2016 from REI to the Alaska Geographic Association.
