This trailhead is open from dawn until dusk.

Runner Notes

Easy, groomed singletrack and fairly smooth dirt roads with some minimal rocky sections.

Description

Starting on the east side from Olde Stage Road, the trailhead is located on the east side of the road - there is a small pullout, but runners should park down the road at the larger parking lot by the junction of Lefthand Canyon Drive and Olde Stage.

The first part of the trail is a very gradual climb with a couple easy switchbacks thrown in. It isn't much of a leg burner, just a steady uphill. After this the trail levels out and heads through a small stand of ponderosa pine - at this point, there is a faint, unofficial trail that branches of to the left - stay to the right.

After this, you'll reach the high point of the run and get some nice views out toward Haystack Mountain and the Left Hand Valley Reservoir. Take a moment to soak the views up before heading down the other side of the hill. The next section of trail is an old dirt road that heads steadily downhill. At times, the road converges with driveways for the couple houses in the area. These junctions are well marked - just follow the signs to stay on track and not end up in someone's front yard.

The trail eventually ends at the Joder Ranch Trailhead off of Hwy 36. From here you can turn around and head back the way you came, or if you are looking for a longer run, you can easily connect to the trail Beech Access Trail and Left Hand Trail.

Flora & Fauna

Mainly ponderosa pine. Wildflowers include pasque flowers, sweet peas, loco weed, and yucca. Wildlife includes meadowlarks, magpies, robins, crows, deer, and elk.
