Overview

Get lost in the wilderness right in town. Though this park does see a fair amount of traffic, most of your time will be spent alone. The trees and several lakes in this park give the run a north-woods feel. This trail is easy enough for the novice but experienced runners will also enjoy the many miles and beautiful scenery.

Need to Know

Water and bathrooms are available year-round at all three trailheads. There's a beach and showers at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center to cool you off after the run.

The trail is mostly shaded. Bring bug spray in season. Some trails are used by horses. Avoid the ski trails in the winter.

Runner Notes

Nothing technical here other than some bridges and boardwalks that might get slippery.

Description

Several start points are possible. This track starts at the Jensen Lake Trailhead but you could also start at the Holland Lake Trailhead to the north, the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center to the northeast, or the Dodd Road access at the southeast corner.

Much of the trail will take you around the edges of the many lakes. Other parts will take you deep into the woods. While there are some minor hills here and there, there is nothing that will be daunting.

The route can easily be modified to just about any length you wish. There are 19 miles of trails available in the summer.

The trail is very well marked. At each crossroad you'll see a "You Are Here" sign, the number associated with that crossroads, and as you go in any possible signs saying "To #" so you know which crossroads your heading to.

Please be aware of your fellow trail users, and give right of way to equestrians and slower moving groups.

Flora & Fauna

Wildflowers can be found in some areas of the park. Cranes, herons and other birds call the waters of the lake home, as well as smaller wildlife seen frequenting the banks.
