Rail to trail with good drainage and fine gravel.

Need to Know

Parking with restrooms at Natural Well, Smith Bridge, Petticoat Junction, and Intervale. However, note there is no parking at either end of the trail (with Intervale being mile marker 0)

Runner Notes

In general, fine gravel, even surfaces. no roots or large rocks and good drainage. Trail markers for distance, as well as marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k markers. There are a couple areas where water has created a little erosion. The wooden bridges can be slippery when wet.

Description

This is a new and modern rail to trail. The trail and bridges are in excellent condition. The trail follows the river along a valley with nice views of the river, fields, streams and the surrounding mountains. Good access for canoe, kayak and tubing.

Flora & Fauna

I saw a lot of birds, including geese and songbirds. There were also many white tailed deer.

As of early 2024, the trail ends here. One sign says the trail extension should be completed in 2023, while the other clearly says no trespassing.
