Description

This trail is an awesome trail in Catalina State Park. This trail first starts across Catalina State Park Rd from the parking area. Then, the trail heads southeast and crosses the Sutherland Wash. The trail forks into this trail, on the left, and the Alamo Canyon/Bathtub Tank trail on the right.

Next, the trail approaches about 40 steps up to the main loop of this trail. By taking a left in 100 feet, you'll see a sign of the ancient layout of this hill. In 350 feet from the first sign, you'll approach another sign and also one of the foundations of a 1,500 year old building off of the trail.

In another 400 feet, you'll approach where the trash mound that the people who lived here 1,500 years ago used. At this location there is an informational sign and a bench. In 550 feet, you'll approach a ball court that the people used 1,500 years ago. Finally, in 100 feet, you'll meet where the loop started, and this trail ends.

Flora & Fauna

In spring, you'll find wildflowers buzzing with bees. You might also see animals like desert cottontails, birds, snakes, and more! You might also see plants like palo verde trees, prickly pear cacti, saguaros, shrubs, and more!
