“"Hiline of the West Side Trails" when combined with Pyramid!”— Chuck McQuade
About halfway along, the trail comes to an intersection with a newly adopted trail called Pyramid. For advanced runners heading downhill, you might want to take the Pyramid optional trail to the end of the Scorpion trail. Pyramid trail gives the advanced runner a 1.2-mile mostly downhill extension with some fairly rugged descending sections and ledgy climb sections. Otherwise, continue descending Scorpion.
At the end of the trail, you'll see the end of Pyramid trail to your right. Do not climb Pyramid trail, your options are to either out-and-back the Scorpion trail or run left to a dirt parking lot at the Upper Red Rock Loop/Chavez Rd intersection.
Scorpion will be used in the uphill direction as a connector trail with the Skywalker Trail or Herkenham Trail. In the uphill direction, the Scorpion trail has short rocky sections.
