Trail shared by Rich Greeley

A converted forest work road to hiking trail (blue/red blaze) terminated by green gates on Guerdat Road and Winsted Rd.

Features -none-

State of CT requires dogs to be leashed but low volume in the area means most people don't.

Need to Know

While this trail carries blue/red blazes and connects to CFPA's John Muir trail it is bike legal.

Description

This old forest work road offers a small parking area at the bottom. Torrington Trail Network did a nice job converting it into a relatively smooth, multi-use trail to connect the Sue Grossman Greenway on the Winsted Road to the hike-only John Muir Trail that runs from Sunnybrook to Burr Pond.

Use Buttrick to reconnect to the Burr/Paugnut Main Loop after running down Whipping Post. It's a steady grind up (maybe 0.4 miles) but mostly on reclaimed asphalt.
