The West Hickory Ridge trail branches off of the Weeping Rock Trail
roughly halfway between the homestead parking area and the main overlook area.
From the Weeping Rock Trail
, the route rolls gently through beautiful, cathedral-like oak-hickory forest before opening into a clearing. The clearing contains several ancient Native American burial and ceremonial mounds. The mounds are sacred sites; please respect them by not tramping on them.
Nice views invite users to pause for a second and take in a slightly different view of the Mississippi-Wisconsin River confluence.
At the north end of the trail, it loops back on itself and becomes the East Hickory Ridge Trail
, which connects to the Myotis Trail
and Bridal Veil Trail.
