Overview

This is an intermediate level trail race at the ASC Greenway. There are no roads or road crossings. Most of the course is singletrack trail, including some horse and bike trails. Most of the ASC Greenway is used, including Lake Haigler, the Adventure Center, and the trails by the horse barn. It also goes by the mill stone. There is an 8K course overlaid on the half marathon course, as well as several areas to make the run longer or shorter.

Need to Know

Registration for both races opens on January 1, 2018.

Description

The Stumpy Pond Half Marathon Trail Race is a challenging trail race located at the ASC Greenway in Fort Mill, SC.

There will also be an 8K option.

If you are thinking that this race will be on pavement or groomed paths like many urban parks called greenways, that is not the case. The ASC Greenway is a 3000-acre natural area and the races will consist of almost all singletrack, technical trails. You should have some trail running experience before this race, and there are many opportunities to check out the course with the Rock Hill Striders.

The 8K is part of the Mill Stone Trail Race Series. Check the series page for more details.

The Stumpy Pond Half Marathon replaces the Mill Stone Half Marathon, which was run for many years from the Rush Pavilion. The Stumpy Pond course will start at a different location on the Greenway.

Due to some construction at the Greenway, there was a chance we would not be able to have the half marathon at the Pavilion, so we began to search for alternatives. Although it turns out the Pavilion will be open, we decided to change things up and offer the race at a very different location
