The trail is usually closed by snow from November until May.

Description

This trail starts from a trailhead on Forest Road 070, and climbs past the larger of the Bigelow Lakes; this lake is a short cross-country run down across a meadow from the main trail. From there, the trail continues on to end on a saddle above the Bigelow Lakes Basin at a junction with the Mt. Elijah Trail #1206.

This trail provides the easiest and most direct access to the Bigelow Lakes from the west. Back in the day, it was how you got to the now abandoned fire lookout on Lake Mountain. It is also an alternative, and more direct, way to reach the summit of Mount Elijah from the west.

Despite being popular with equestrians, the trail surface is pretty good.
