This trail starts at Cultus Lake Campground and travels along the lakeshore for the first few miles. After the junction with Metolius-Windago Trail, the Winopee Lake Trail crosses into the Three Sisters Wilderness (be sure to obtain a permit for travel in the wilderness from Memorial Day weekend to Oct 31. Permits at trailhead.
As the trail tracks away from the lake, it begins to climb, but always over relatively easy and moderate grades. The trail ends at the junction with the Pacific Crest Trail.
