The Cannonsburg State Game Area is closed from September 15th - February 1st annually for small game hunting season.

Overview

A nice rolling run through the woods. This run could be shortened by heading back along 4 Mile Road for a 4.5-mile loop.

Need to Know

This has become primarily a mountain biking trail. Be aware that bikers come around corners and downhills quickly and may not be able to swerve off the very narrow path. Be ready to jump off the trail at any point.

For hikers and runners, going counterclockwise or against bike directionality is advised since the majority of bike traffic heads clockwise. This gives you a fighting chance to see oncoming traffic! Nice trail otherwise!

Description

Parking is located off 4 Mile Road near Dursum Ave. This loop run is made up of four trail sections with easily-identifiable trail markers where it crosses two lightly-traveled dirt roads.

From the main parking area, head south on Egypt Valley Trail: Section 4 toward 3 Mile Road, mostly downhill. Just before the road, you'll begin to climb before heading east along 3 Mile Road for a couple hundred yards, looking for the Egypt Valley Trail: Section 3 entrance on the left heading back into the woods (north).

Continue a short climb to the north before bending to the right (east) and descending toward a crossing of Egypt Creek around the 2.25-mile mark.

Wind through the woods back toward 4 Mile Road and turn left (west) for a couple hundred feet toward the entrance for Egypt Valley Trail: Section 2. Much like the other sections, this one winds up and down through the woods with some roots to keep an eye out for, but nothing very technical.

Around the 5-mile mark, turn right onto Dursum Avenue to head north toward Austin Lake and the entrance for Egypt Valley Trail: Section 1. This section is generally flatter than the others making for a nice way to cool down after a 7+ mile loop.
