“This decently hilly trail transects the length of Pisgah State Park through dense forests.”— Jess Scolnic
Starting at the trailhead near HWY 119, the trail wastes no time heading deep into the area's dense hardwood forest. After quickly passing through a powerline cut, the trail continues on, climbing moderate grades along a valley floor nestled between Tufts Mountain and an adjacent hill.
At the end of the valley, the trail makes a bid for the saddle in earnest, climbing steep grades to reach one of the highlights of the trail: Pisgah Reservoir.
After rewarding you with pleasant lakeside views and passing the junction with Pisgah Ridge Trail, the trail continues north to parallel Pisgah Brook and make another junction with the Baker Pond Trail.
North of Baker Pond Trail, the trail continues through more of the same scenery to climb the flank of Hubbard Hill and end in an agricultural area.
