Runner Notes

One benefit of this route is that it's not a very crowded trail. When the Wind Cave Trail is insanely crowded, you can get a good workout by taking this trail a few times and not needing to constantly wait to pass groups on the trail.

Description

This trail goes up and over Merkle hill and bisects the Merkle Trail. It provide access to the Merkle Trail from a parking area on the north end of the hill, south of the Wind Cave Trail parking area. Unlike the Merkle Trail, this one is not accessible. There are rocky parts of the trail, switchbacks, and loose gravel.
