Description
The Cluster Lakes Trail start shown here is found along the PCT and
Nobles Emigrant Trail (East) at a well-marked trail junction. Cluster Lakes Trail begins at Badger Flats, a large meadow with seasonal streams running through it and a spring. Heading south from the PCT and
Nobles Emigrant Trail (East). Cluster Lakes Trail runs through a regenerating burn area from the 2012 Reading Wildfire that came through here. Thus, this area is fairly open with all the burnt bare trunks sprinkled now with new growth and low ground cover.
Cluster Lakes Trail climbs gradually for its first 1.9 miles as it's travels through the silver trunks and new green growth. At the 1.95 mile mark the trail levels out and comes to the first of two small lakes. After running along the first lake's west side for 0.3 miles, the trail leaves the first lake and almost immediately comes to the second, larger lake. At the second lake the trail follows its west shoreline for 0.4 miles.
A very short ways after the second lake, Cluster Lakes Trail reaches a well marked trail junction with
Bear Lakes Trail, where it ends. Taking
Bear Lakes Trail in either direction leads to more small gem-like lakes.
