Runner Notes

This trail is nice and smooth until the final push to the summit, where it gets quite steep and rocky.

Description

By itself, this isn't a great trail, but it's the easiest route to the summit of Green Mountain, which features amazing 360-degree views from Kansas the continental divide. The trail borders private property at first, which distracts from the wilderness, but the trail is pleasant and the views are interesting.

Of note is the back side of Bear Peak, and the large fire that burned there in 2013.

Travel along pretty easy terrain until you reach the last quarter mile that steeply climbs to the summit. From there, return the way you came or make a big loop out of the MANY trails that converge here.

Snowy, but packed most if the way, minimal postholing. Last 1/4 mile gets a touch sketchy. 4mi — 1h 36m

The description says this trail as 1.4 mi but the trail must have been rerouted because the gpx file from Garmin shows a different 2 mi route. 2mi — 2h 00m
