Dogs are allowed on the LOWER section only. They are no allowed past (higher than) the
Saddle Rock Trail intersection.
Runner Notes
The upper half of the trail is very tricky to run: steep, rocky, and a somewhat loose surface.
Description
This trail branches left off the
Ranger Trail 0.3 mi. southeast of the Green Mountain Lodge. It contours around a ridge, then follows a drainage past the junction of the
Saddle Rock Trail. Up until this point, the trail is smooth and pretty easy.
After the intersection, the trail changes character quite a bit. From here all the way to the top is quite rocky and steep, and MUCH harder. After passing a spring, the trail climbs a rocky ridge to a saddle, then switchbacks to end at the summit of Green Mountain, elevation 8,144 ft. Enjoy amazing views in all directions!
Check out the
Green Mountain West Ridge Trail if you want an easier option to get to the Green Mountain summit.
