Description

Starting from Lower Big Bluestem Trail off of the Mesa Trail, this trail climbs at a shallow grade for ~.7mi. The trail starts out of the trees and provides amazing views of the Flatirons and the surrounding mesa. Keep your eyes on the trail, however, as rocks and roots provide constant challenge. Just before crossing a gully, you'll see log debris and some stone walls. This is what is left of the Brammeier Homestead.

After the ~.7mi mark, the trail becomes very steep and even rockier. Now in the trees, the Flatirons only provide fleeting views, which are still nice...

Eventually, this trail joins back up with Mesa Trail. Upper Big Bluestem proves a good way to curtail your Mesa Trail run, if you're into that.
