The Smoky River spread out across gravel flats, making for a lower water level, and therefore, easier ford. Seen looking downstream (northwest) from the northeast river bank, at the alternate Smoky River crossing.
The trail heading toward Moose Pass, with Calumet Peak in the distance on the left, is at the edge of the mile long wet, meadowy area - stay to the right here.

A small glacial lake in the mountain meadows, is passed by Coleman Glacier Trail. This lake is fed by the glacial creek flowing down the gap in the center between the 2 mountains. A glacier behind the mountain on the right is the creek source.
More mountains, glaciers, and snowfields come into view to the west-southwest when descending through the Moose Pass meadows. Mumm Peak, Mount Anne-Alice, Mural Glacier, Mount Phillips, and Gendarme Mountain (left ot right).
