Crater Lake is nestled in a beautiful mountain cirque surrounded by jagged peaks. Crater Lake and Mirror Lake both offer jaw-dropping views of rugged peaks, especially Lone Eagle Peak which is known for its dramatic, pointy summit. This is one of the most iconic views in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.
Overnight Trip: Crater Lake can be accessed via Monarch Lake on the west side of the Indian Peaks Wilderness or from the east side via Brainard Lake and Pawnee Pass. Most people visit Crater Lake on a backpacking trip, but you could also access as a long day run.
