What's not to love about the panoramic view from John Rock?

It's a great place to rest in the sun, and admire Looking Glass Rock right across the valley. If you come during Peregrine falcon nesting season, see if you can spot them nesting on Looking Glass Rock.

The rock is sloped and can be very slippery if wet. It's around a 200' sheer drop, so you'll (obviously) want to be careful. I recommend you bring lunch or dinner along in your pack, and run to the look out. That way, you can eat and enjoy the view with friends!

Short Run: Park at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education & Fish Hatchery. Use the Cat Gap Loop trail to access the John Rock trail. If you want to do a simple hike in and out in a day, I recommend taking the eastern section of the Cat Gap Loop.
