Description
Taughannock Falls is the highest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi (30 feet higher than Niagara). Located in a beautiful gorge just north of Ithaca, it is easy to access along beautiful paths from above and below.
Short Walk: The easiest access to Taughannock Falls is from above via the Taughannock Falls Overlook Viewpoint just off Taughannock Park Road. There are rim trails both along the north and south edges of the gorge. Perhaps the best way to view the falls is along the Taughannock Falls via Gorge Trail that begins from a parking area off NY 89.
