Description
This is a beautiful trail that travels from Moraga road, through shaded hillside, to the Lafayette Reservoir
Rim Trail. The trailhead is located at the sidewalk on the west side of Moraga Road, just north of the intersection with Via Granada (free street parking available on Via Granada).
The trail winds it's way through shaded forest. The beautiful, gnarled oaks, California Bay, and other trees make for a really interesting atmosphere. The shade makes it a good option for warm sunny days. The first 0.4 miles are relatively flat. At about 0.45 mi the trail turns west and begins climbing steeply. This section can be challenging, especially in wet weather when the trail can be slick.
At 0.6 mi the trail exits the forest, gains the top of the hill, and affords pretty views of the Lafayette Reservoir area. The trail gently descends for about 50 yards, where it reaches a junction with the
Rim Trail.
