Description

This trail is the highlight of Kelly Point Park which is somewhat hidden among all the industry in North Portland. The trail is very wide, paved, and flat, so it is easy going.

The trail begins at the main parking area and heads north to be near the edge of the Columbia River. Multiple access trails will take you down to the "beach" along the river, but swimming is prohibited due to the unpredictable currents and multiple fatalities over the years. You'll come to Kelly's Point at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Then the trail heads south along the Willamette, offering more "beach" access. Finally, it turns east and dead-ends along the Columbia Slough.

There are multiple meadows and picnic areas along this trail. There are also a number of trails you can take back to the park road/parking areas to shorten the route or make loops.

Note: dogs are supposed to be leashed, but nearly every dog we saw was off leash and well behaved.
