Need to Know

Parking here is limited and the lots are often full by noon during the summer/early fall months.

Description

A great little hike that climbs steadily to the top of Mt. Morgan with gorgeous views of Squam lake and Rattlesnake Mountain.

This trail starts at the Mount Morgan Trailhead parking area and begins climbing moderately to the junction with Morse Trail which veers off to the right. At 1.6 miles Mount Morgan trail reaches Crawford-Ridgepole Trail. Taking a left would bring you to Mount Webster (1.4 mi.), Old Mountain Road (4.4 mi.), and Cotton Mountain (5.7 mi.).

To reach Mt. Morgan, continue to the right for about .3 miles. Then you'll reach a small split where two paths can take you to the summit. Following the path to the left takes you up a ladder via some cliffs, and you'll have to pass through some narrow boulders before climbing over rocks slabs to the top. Whereas following the path towards the right to reach the summit continues along Crawford-Ridgepole Trail and is easier to complete.
