Description

Do not confuse this trail with Sucker Creek Trail #1237. The two join at at the junction with the boundary trail, however, they are two distinct trails. The Sucker Creek Trail is #906 when it starts in California and the #1237 when it starts in Oregon.

This trail is entirely within the Red Buttes Wilderness Area but it starts in California and ends in Oregon. Sucker Creek Trail #906 leaves the Steve Fork Trail #905 about 0.8 miles from the Steve Fork Trailhead, and climbs to Sucker Creek Gap on the Siskiyou Crest. Here it junctions with the Boundary Trail #1207 and the Sucker Creek Trail #1237.

Lake 5148, which is just southwest of the #906, is a great camping spot. The Sucker Creek Shelter, which is on the west side of the crest along the #1237, is a refurbished open-sided shelter than is open to all runners and backpackers.
