Description

This is the namesake trail of the 26-mile-plus Dry Creek Trail System. It can be used in either direction, but has generally easier gradients if done from north to south. It starts out branching off of the Pinhoti, about 0.3 miles off the parking area and trailhead on East Armuchee Rd.

It starts out with a gentle climb, then a nice curving, swooping downhill, then a straight climb into a hilltop clearing. After that the trail crosses a gravel forest service road, then rolls through a pine forest. After that, it crosses another gravel forest service road into an area temporarily deforested by fire that still has good ups and downs. It then crosses another service road, then ends into the Mount Joy Trail about 0.3 miles from its end at Loblolly Trail.

The trail surface is generally machine-cut with no significant obstacles, but occasionally brief climbs in the 5-10% range. As with all the trails at the Dry Creek system, it is a multiuse trail also popular with equestrians.

Dry Creek goes from deeply forested to totally exposed as you hit the logging road into the logging area.
