This is a very good trail, that is well-used among bicyclists, well-behaved dogs, and walkers. There are two blind turns at the northern end of the trail next to the City of Durham Fleet lot.

Also, watch your step over some of the boardwalk bridges between the Courtland Drive and Cardinal Drive entry points. There are boards that are loose and could be a trip hazard.

The Third Fork Creek Trail is a fantastic addition to the trail system in Durham. Called the North-South Greenway, this trail curves along the Third Fork Creek in the southern part of Durham. The trail is well-maintained and mostly flat, with some small challenging hills on the northern and southern part of this trail.

Even though the trail starts at Garrett Park across from Jordan High School, and travels along Woodcroft Parkway for a half mile, nature is very close. Once you cross, Woodcroft Parkway, the trail is well-marked and easy to run, jog, or hike. With the tree cover, the trail is nearly 100% covered on the southern end, until crossing South Roxboro Street.
