Description

This trail starts at the top and west end of Mount Hosmer Park and goes out to William Beck Point. The trail descends at a good grade but is not too difficult. At the end of the trail is the overlook, which has a fantastic view overlooking Lansing and the Mississippi River. Also at the end of the trail is the Beck Point flagpole. “Dedicated to the memory of William E. Beck who made the supreme sacrifice for his country in the World War at Fismes, Battle of Aisnes-Marne, August 4, 1918.”

Mount Hosmer was dedicated as a Veterans Memorial Park, originally honoring the soldiers from Allamakee County who gave the ultimate sacrifice in World War I. The three points are dedicated to the three solders from Lansing who died in World War I—Robert Strong, George Glynn, and William Beck.
