Description

No matter which direction you travel along this trail, it will take your breath away. Climbing from the south trailhead will make your lungs burn and heading back down you'll have to force yourself to breathe. Starting from the north trailhead means miles of remote ridge line running and plenty of steep side slope traverses to keep you on your toes.

There are some spectacular views from the many open fields along the ridge, but since the trail gets so little use, you'll be bushwacking especially in late summer. Once back in the woods, it's classic narrow, steep, rugged singletrack.

While similar to some trails in the Oakridge area, it has a number of rough, rocky sections thrown in for an additional challenge. This is not a trail for the faint of heart and it's a long long way from civilization, so make sure you're prepared for anything.

Works great as a shuttle or as a loop when combined with Chucksney Mountain Trail #3306 or NF-19 and NF 1917. You can even extend the downhill (or uphill) on the south end by connecting your run with Box Canyon Trail #3660.
