Runner Notes

This trail can sometimes stay soggy after heavy rain, so keep an eye on the conditions reports or look elsewhere if it's rained recently.

Description

This trail is primarily used as a cross-country ski trail. As such, it cuts a broad corridor through the forest, though the actual tread has the character of a singletrack trail.

From the parking lot, take the option on the left that start in an open field spotted with trees. The first mile of the trail skirts along the shore of Hanrehan Lake through a series of small hills. After it turns north, the trail crosses a marshy opening before you head more steeply uphill.

Stay left as you cross Knob Trail Connector 2 and then shortly after stay right when you cross the Razor Back Trail. Skirt a couple of small lakes before you pass Knob Trail Connector 2 again. Meet up with an old service road turned trail only to veer right when the trail splits off. As you head downhill, weave your way through a few more glacial lakes (kettles) until you are back at the parking lot.

This area has the potential to be quite buggy in the heat of summer, so come prepared with bug spray and protective clothing.

Flora & Fauna

There are lots of both aquatic and forest-dwelling birds to see in this area.
