Stewart Cascades, also known as Stewart Falls, is one of the most scenic and photogenic waterfalls in northern Utah. It falls in two tiers and is over 200 feet tall. It is a moderate run through a beautiful forest on the east side of Mount Timpanogos.

The trail starts at Aspen Grove, along the Alpine Loop Road. Several trails start here so pay attention to the signs. The Stewart Falls trail is easy to find. It is wide and well-maintained.

Parking at Aspen Grove requires an entry fee of $6 for a three-day pass which is paid at a toll booth on the Alpine Scenic Loop. If you are tight on cash, you can park a little ways down the road just below BYU's Aspen Grove Lodge on the side of the road, then walk up the road to the trailhead.

There is also an alternative trail that comes up to the falls from Sundance Ski Resort.

There are many loose rocks and exposed roots throughout the trail. It is a very popular trail, particularly on weekends during the summer, so running may not be possible at that time due to traffic. If you want to run, it's suggested that you come early in the morning to beat the crowds.

The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. The descent from the ridge down to the base of the falls is quite steep (youngsters should be held in check at that point) but this is a great family friendly run overall. Summer is a good time to make the trek, and fall is even better because colored leaves are magnificent.

Once at the falls, some will venture up to the base of the first tier of the falls, however, the trail to this area is on a steep slant and this is not recommended. Once you've enjoyed the falls, turn back and return the way that you came to return to the trailhead.
