Need to Know
Baylands Nature Preserve is open from 8:00 am to sunset. The exact closing time is posted on signage at the park entry. The parking area at the northeast end of the pond has toilets, but the south lot does not.
Description
This is a short and flat loop that can be done in either direction. It traces portions of the tidal marsh and the Palo Alto Duck Pond, which makes it a great spot for birding. Parking can be found at either end of the pond, as well as throughout the park in general.
This trail can easily be connected with other trails in the park to extend your run.
Flora & Fauna
Fauna include waterfowl and other birds, rabbits, pocket gophers, deer, and more. The flora is typical of the tidal marsh areas here, including flowers in the spring, fennel, and other shrubs.
