Description
Old
Mine Trail is found at the 1.5 mile mark along
Merry-Go-Round Trail, on the north side of
Merry-Go-Round Trail.
Old
Mine Trail is a flat, grassy trail in an open area of low brush. Initially on a gently sloping hillside with great views to the north, northeast, and east, the trail reaches the ridge top shortly. Once on the ridge top, views to the southwest, west, and northwest are added to the panorama.
The forested Santa Cruz Mountains can be seen in all directions. Additionally, in the far distance to the east, the Diablo Range on the other side of Santa Clara Valley, is visible.
Old
Mine Trail ends after a short 0.3 miles where the ridge ends. Below the end of the ridge is a pond set in the brushy valley below. At the trail end, the trail circles around a clump of bushes, but there is no (obvious) evidence of a mine anywhere.
Flora & Fauna
Low brush and grass.
